Senior Accountant Real Estate


Leslie Rudd Investment Company (LRIco or Company), an entrepreneurial investment organization, is searching for a candidate to perform accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for its diverse real estate portfolio.  The candidate will perform all accounting activities relating to the portfolio as well as recurring and ad hoc analysis.  The candidate will work alongside other portfolio accountants to change and improve accounting processes. The Candidate will receive market-competitive cash compensation package (including base salary and annual performance-based bonus), depending on candidate s experience, qualifications, and expected contributions. Comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, 401k, etc.) are provided.


Position Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant position will work closely with the real estate business, financial, and operations leaders to provide accurate management, analysis and financial reporting.  This role will also be responsible for the documentation of accounting procedures as well as the monitoring of accounting processes, including review of cash transactions and real estate portfolio performance.

  • Prepare financial reporting for the company s real estate portfolio per the close schedule
  • Serve as key partner to VP of Real Estate
  • Develop and reconcile balance sheet schedules to each entity s books and records
  • Complete annual rent and common area maintenance reconciliations
  • Ensure invoicing of tenants and rent collection
  • Maintain property rent rolls
  • Interface with tenants and assist with new tenant and tenant improvement analysis
  • Perform quarterly and year end market value analysis
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis on new investments, tenents and dispositions
  • Maintain real estate capital project tracking schedules

Other duties as assigned

Occassional travel is expected (expectation is 5% - 10% on ongoing basis). Travel will be according to business needs and requirements. The successful Sr. Accountant will be very focused on executing timely and well in whatever the assignment is, with the individual s role and responsibilities to evolve largely based on his/her success in that dimension.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in an Accounting and Tax related field.

  • Ability to work in a fluid environment with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong bias to action including specific experience in driving organizational projects/efforts to successful completion and achieving deadlines.

  • Keen and detailed analysis skills, including the ability to review and understand detailed financial/operating information, work across multiple software solutions, quickly ascertain key learnings, and develop actions to drive improvements.

  • Prior experience working with diverse industries (e.G. Retail, family office, food service, distribution, real estate or manufacturing) is strongly desired. In addition, a relevant background working with multiple companies of varied sizes, complexities, and capital structures is preferred.

  • Demonstrated communication skills in working with third-party business partners, such as suppliers/vendors, banks, professional service firms and/or other external parties.

  • A bachelor s degree in finance, accounting or other relevant business degree is required; CPA is preferred. Other certifications (MBA, CMA, etc.) will be viewed favorably.
