Our client has engaged Bell & Associates to help them find their next HR Business Partner.  The HR Business Partner in Atchison, KS is a site leadership role that will ensure operational excellence in the delivery of day to day HR functions at a site level. The role will drive effectiveness by building capability, managing employee relations and driving performance management. The role will develop and maintain internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Be responsible and accountable for day to day HR functions at a site level by providing leadership and guidance in the areas of performance management, training and development, employee engagement and welfare, communication, HR reporting, terminations and redundancies.

  • Oversee all site recruitment functions including apprentices and contractors.

  • Manage employee relations and industrial relations in a positive, proactive and strategic manner to support the strategic business and HR plans; apply a detailed understanding of the industrial relations framework to provide advice and guidance on the interpretation of workplace agreements and employment laws and regulations.

  • Assist site management with all aspects of Collective Bargaining negotiations and management of administration aspects.

  • Drive improvements in employee engagement by assisting site management to identify issues, develop new and innovative ways to engage with employees and seek and act on their feedback to identify the most effective methods while also working across projects to ensure communication and engagement issues are identified and addressed.

  • With guidance from the Head of Communications, lead communication at a local level by developing effective communication strategies and managing internal communications.

  • Provide general advice to site management team in relation to disciplinary actions conducting disciplinary reviews, providing recommendations and being responsible for impartial investigation assistance.

  • Oversee, investigate and resolve discrimination, harassment, and other offensive work environment site complaints.

  • Act as the point of contact and on behalf of the company in site legal matters arising, for example, out of harassment allegations, civil rights complaints, unemployment claims, and other like matters that are being investigated by local, state, or federal agencies or are filed in suit against the company.

  • Develop, maintain, and champion the site Affirmative Action Plan and diversity goals.

  • Collaborate with other members of the People & Communications team to undertake projects that both contribute to the national and global HR strategy and plans and contribute to the development and implementation of national and global policies and programs while leading the change management process at a site level.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree in Human Resources or equivalent required

  • Current HR accreditation preferred

  • Training and assessment certification desirable

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a HR role (preferably within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and exposure to HRIM Systems

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and exposure to Industrial Relations

  • Excellent communication & relationship management skills

  • Strong analytical & strategic thinking skills

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality & professionalism always

  • Proven ability to develop Frontline Leadership capabilities

  • Excellent conflict resolution & negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others

  • Well organized with a disciplined approach

  • Ability to work autonomously, problem solve and act without supervision

  • Reliable use of judgment & decision-making skills consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations and legislation

  • Strong Microsoft Office products skills
