Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Director of Strategic Communications & Marketing. The Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing plays a vital role as the voice of the company, and will work to provide executive-level communications, including crisis communications. The team works closely with the company President and the advancement staff to promote and market signature events.  The Marketing & Communications group is responsible for managing the overall brand/voice and the strategic integrated communications of the company through internal and external communications, brand management, marketing, advertising, public relations and media relations. The office promotes numerous events each year and is responsible for the website which is scheduled to begin the update process in 2020. The office also provides consultation on recruitment advertising and social media outreach. The office culture is fast paced, collaborative, respectful and professional, with some humor and a lot of creative brainstorming intertwined. The team takes great pride in the tremendous responsibility of managing the brand and the team members bring their best every day to ensure that they are creating exceptional work.

 

We re seeking a seasoned Marketing/Communications manager to lead the team. The ideal candidate will be a strong team leader, a strategic thinker and natural storyteller, providing innovation and direction in creating and executing effective communication and media strategies to generate awareness, build relationships and shape behaviors (headlined by increased engagement and event attendance) among members of the company s external and internal audiences.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides annual internal and external communications strategy.

  • Acts as final editor for and provides creative guidance to print projects.

  • Serves as managing editor for the biannual magazine and weekly internal newsletter.

  • Works closely with the President to craft internal, external and crisis communications.

  • Provides script writing assistance and overall message direction for the president and others who speak at signature events.

  • Serves as public information officer.

  • Assists with story generation and media relations on all platforms.

  • Works with the graphic designer on licensing and oversees logo usage and style guide.

  • Responds to external requests for public relations donations, space rental.

  • Manages community partnerships on special projects.

  • Oversees signage.

  • Provides leadership and direction to staff members, ensuring consistency in brand and voice across all platforms.

  • Leads staff meetings and one on one meetings with staff members to keep all projects on deadline and to provide direction and project prioritization.

  • Makes hiring decisions and evaluates employees annually.

  • Sets tone for and oversees culture and team goals.

  • Develops and manages budget.

  • Manages vendor relationships and is administrator for event and space reservations.

  • Provides direction and maintains brand consistency on social media activity.

  • Manages the marketing plans for events and performances, including developing plans focused on increasing attendance and engaging new audiences.

  • Works on collateral for donor and alumni function.

  • Provides overall consultation on marketing initiatives (other than recruitment marketing).

  • Manages all general advertising (radio, newspaper).

  • Assists with community and event planning, promotion and setup, and attends major events.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 10 years of experience in a marketing/communications role

  • Non-profit experience

  • Must understand web design - major initiative to redesign website

  • Strong writer and editor
