Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Director of Finance & Accounting. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of Finance & Accounting will be a highly talented, seasoned finance, accounting, and operations leader who works well in a team environment supporting multiple business units. The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated track record of success in leading a financial organization through fundamental change, transformation and growth. The successful candidate will have a high level of integrity and be a highly effective business partner with all levels of leadership.
Provide insight and counsel relative to areas of financial leadership, business analytics, strategic planning, and growth.
Proactively communicate challenges and opportunities and recommend potential solutions/courses of action.
Identify and build upon processes and controls that will scale with the company, as well as providing the financial intelligence for all strategic decisions to help drive the business.
Partner with business unit General Managers to advise on bottom line profitability.
Oversee and monitor business unit accounting activities.
Assure that policies and procedures are consistent with auditing standards and financial records are accurate and timely.
Complete the monthly general ledger closing and financial statement generation, coordinating with Corporate Controller on consolidated results.
Ensure that finance and audit practices conform to company policies, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Maintain the organizations accounting policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Lead and direct financial planning including annual operating plans, business analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
Collaboratively develop performance benchmarks for the company.
Partner with ERP implementation team to provide oversight to all financial processes and functions.
Partner with CFO and General Managers on acquisition activity, with heavy involvement in financial modeling, due diligence, and integration.
Manage and develop an internal accounting team.
Develop, mentor and coach the team in order to create and maintain a cohesive and progressive organization.
A Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field of study
CPA and/or MBA is highly desirable
10+ years in progressive Accounting and Business management positions
Experience in a privately held, entrepreneurial company combined with public company experience is a plus
Experience coordinating FP&A activities with several distinct business units
Demonstrated proficiency with the use of technology, including Microsoft suite of products
ERP implementation experience highly desirable
Acquisition experience highly desirable, including financial modeling, due diligence, and integration
Exhibits the highest personal and professional standards of ethics and integrity
Outstanding leadership skills.
Capable of influencing the business and able to articulate a clear vision to internal customers and employee owners
Able to operate strategically, but just as comfortable operating on a detailed level
A proven track record of instilling core finance processes and controls, as well as creating Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) and analytics to gain better visibility into the business.
Extremely strong organizational skills.
Able to juggle multiple priorities and successfully deliver on commitments within promised timeframes.
Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor. This individual will be energetic and able to create a motivational climate which will inspire employees best efforts.
This individual must be comfortable in an entrepreneurial and roll up your sleeves environment.
